Have you ever actually thought about your clothes, accessories, and shoes, and how much of it comes from animals? That beautiful leather purse you have, probably came from a cow. The leather industry uses animals such as cows, pigs, goats, sheep and even exotic animals like alligators, ostriches, and kangaroos. But the majority of leather is known to come from cows. The cows spend most of their time in crowded feedlots, and are castrated, branded and dehorned without painkillers. Now, what if you had to have your wisdom teeth removed, and were not given anesthesia or painkillers after the procedure. I’m pretty sure you’d never buy another leather bag if you had to go through that. But their pain doesn’t end there, they suffer until they die. Once the cows reach the slaughter houses, they are hung upside down, and skinned, most of the time while they’re still alive and breathing.
